Is it Your Inner Wound or Intuition Guiding You?
Unraveling the fine line between the voice of the true self and the whispers of old wounds.
Life is a series of choices, every moment filled with decisions that ripple outwards into our reality. Yet, as we stand at the crossroads, ever thought about who’s doing the choosing?
(As you might have guessed, I ask myself this question, like a loooot..maybe this is part of a wound that always want to be “on the right path”😁)
Recognizing The Voices Within
From the earliest days, we’re taught to armor up. Little scrapes and disappointments lead to protective barriers.
For myself, this often meant seeking the approval and consent from others, instead from myself, because I was hurt in this area a lot. Maybe also because I am a pretty sensitive person which hasn’t found it easy to “integrate” into society.
The kid who wasn’t picked for the soccer team learns to mask his pain, the teenager heartbroken by first love vows never to trust so openly again.
These protective mechanisms are natural, but over time, they can morph into elaborate facades and inner voices.
We begin to act not out of authenticity but from the deep-seated wounds and fears that have accumulated over the years.
Yet, there’s another voice, subtle but profound, that exists within us. The voice of intuition. Unlike wounds, which emerge from past experiences, our intuition is timeless, pulling insights from a place beyond our immediate understanding.
The Multidimensional Self Is Emerging
Lately it feels like different parts of who I am are starting to come together and wake up. medium.com
It springs from a place of unbridled authenticity, moving us toward paths that resonate with our true essence. Its voice is light, unburdened, and filled with an inexplicable “knowing.”
For me, this could also first feel like a light feeling, which then gets overthrown by my fears and worries, because I know I need to change and let go of something.
And change is not always easy as you may have experienced yourself:)
Our inner wounds cloak themselves in deceptive garments, sometimes mimicking the gentle voice of intuition.
Yet, beneath their soft murmurings, they carry the weight of past pains, fears, and unhealed traumas, guiding us down paths that might seem protectively familiar yet are often sprinkled with echoes of past sorrows.
The Masks of Fear
Fear is crafty. It has this incredible ability to cloak itself as a guardian, pretending to be the voice of reason when, in truth, it’s keeping us chained.
“Don’t take that step,” it says.
“Remember what happened last time?” But is this caution or is it a chain?
It’s crucial to differentiate. Sometimes, what feels like intuition is just fear, wearing the mask of a guide.
Intuition vs. Inner Wounds: How to Tell Them Apart
Clarity vs. Confusion: Intuition often brings a sense of clarity, even if the message is unexpected. Wounds, however, tend to cloud our judgement with emotions.
Consistent vs. Fluctuating: The voice of intuition is consistent. It doesn’t change with moods. Inner wounds, on the other hand, are temperamental.
Feel vs. Think: Intuition is a feeling, often sensed in the gut or the heart. Wounded voices are generally ‘thoughts’, playing scenarios in the mind.
Peace vs. Anxiety: True intuition, even when it’s warning or guiding you away from something, brings peace. The voice of wounds generally carries anxiety with it.
Journal It: Put pen to paper. Documenting your feelings can sometimes make patterns clearer. Over time, you’ll become adept at recognizing which voice is speaking.
It’s vital to remember that every step, whether guided by intuition or steered by wounds, carries valuable lessons, insights, and opportunities for growth and healing.
I hope you could gain something from this article. I think if you truly master this, you will guide yourself to a very light version and a very light life of your dreams. Go through it. Do what you deeply know you must do, and don’t let your fears overthrow the path your true self wants to take.
