What an amazing post! I am so glad I’m not the only one that goes through this. As I’ve been working on my creative writing, I have gained such an appreciation for writing and words in general. It is so so so important to wait until you feel that internal push to write instead of just putting things out for the sake of being consistent. I also will read a completed post over and over again and sometimes my brain will tell me it’s not complete so I learned it’s all about balance. Anywho- I am so excited about my writing journey in 2024 and this post just encouraged me to be mindful of my perfectionism and just enjoy the process. Thanks so much and Merry Christmas to you if you celebrate!

Why though? That’s the question I’m struggling with. Why do I want to share my writing? It started off as a hobby, but slowly writing consumed my mind and soul, and created this strange urge to share... what is it? Ambition? Vanity? Greed? I’m trying to understand it.

Same here. For me, it is a kind of "therapheutic" to express my self. To express what I can't easily express in front of my friends and family. My world(s), my abstract thinking, what I currently think about... So in short, self-expression with much less limitations than elsewhere in society.

my experience writing women's history vignettes differs. fact based and footnoted. i write because i've had brain damage from a stroke. organizing my thoughts to tell the story of a remarkable woman is good therapy

Thanks for sharing, yes the writing style strongly differs regarding what you write about. For me, the way I currently write works for my "niche" and me.

Happy to hear the way you write works for you!

Random but have you looked into Lion's mane? It is a mushroom that can trigger regrowth of nerves (neuroregenerative properties)
